On Monday, December 14, 2009 the Mexico City Council approved an Ordinance Establishing Chapter 12.5, Stormwater Regulations to the Mexico City Code. This ordinance is now in effect. Amendments are effective as of March, 2012.
The overall stormwater management process may be split into two key categories: Land Disturbance (e.g. stormwater management during construction) and Post Construction (e.g. stormwater management after construction). The City of Mexico has developed a Stormwater Management Design Manual to assist contractors and engineers working within the City limits. This manual contains information related to both the Land Disturbance and Post Construction phases of development, and provides design criteria required by the City of Mexico along with associated methods/procedures for proper stormwater management. The Stormwater Management Design Manual is comprised of eight chapters, which have been made available below:
